The Vivekananda Kendra at Kanyakumari (located at Vivekanandapuram/Vivekananda Ashram) was established at Kanyakumari in the year 1972, by noted freedom fighter Shri. Eknathji Ranade, who was also a RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) stalwart.
The Vivekananda Kendra is a spiritual Hindu organisation, that operates on the principles that were laid down by one of India's greatest spiritual leader, Swami Vivekananda.
Since 1976, the Vivekananda Kendra has been organizing regular Yoga camps (Yoga Shiksha Shibirs) at Kanyakumari, and all its other branches, to spread and teach the 'Yoga' way of balanced life to people from all over the world. The Kendra also conducts several seminars, and rural development programs, and comes out with various magazines and books for the betterment of society and people.
