Kanyakumari Thiruvalluvar statue

The Thiruvalluvar statue at Kanyakumari is located on a rock island (rocky islet) in the sea, at a distance of about 400m from the Kanyakumari seashore.

This statue which is 133 feet high, has been erected in remembrance of Tamil saint and poet Thiruvalluvar. It is said to be second largest statue in Asia.

It was built by noted sculptor Dr. V. Ganapati Sthapati, and the work of installing the Thiruvalluvar statue was completed in the year 2000.

Ferry services are available from the Kanyakumari seashore to the statue located in the sea. Usually ferry services cover visits to both the Thiruvalluvar statue and the Vivekananda rock memorial in a single trip, as they are located close to each other.
